Ralston Communities is a community-driven nonprofit Corporation committed to creating safe, affordable and accessible housing for seniors aged 55 and older, individuals with disabilities, and historically underserved populations. We believe that a stable home is the foundation of a healthy, dignified life, and that everyone, regardless of age or ability, deserves a place to call their own. We proudly consider ourselves a "Thrive Community" and that includes not only our residents, but for the local communities as well.

THE CRISES
America is facing a housing emergency that disproportionately affects its most vulnerable citizens:
SENIOR HOUSING GAP
Over 10,000 Americans turn 65 every single day. Many live on fixed incomes that have not kept pace with skyrocketing rent and housing costs. A majority of adults aged 55+ cannot afford market-rate housing, yet the supply of affordable senior housing fails devastatingly short of demand.
In a 2026 GAP Report released jointly by the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) and the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing (COHHIO), in Ohio alone, it shows a deepening affordable housing crises in Ohio. In a state of 158 million renters, close to 1/2 are paying more than they can afford on rent with 73% spending more than 1/2 of their income on rent. There is a shortage of over 266,000 affordable and accessible rental units.
ACCESSIBILITY CRISES
For individuals living with disabilities, finding housing that accommodates wheelchairs, mobility aids, and specialized medical needs is not just difficult, it is often impossible. The vast majority of affordable housing stock was not built with universal design in mind, leaving too many without options.
